What does the process look like?
The first step is to fill out an adoption Interest form located on the menu. This tells us a little about you, your family, home, lifestyle, other pets, and what you’re looking for in your new best friend. After you complete the form we will review it and get back to you as soon as possible. Feel free to browse the site and our social for updates on current animals. We know you’re excited, but please know that we are volunteer ran, work full time jobs, and have outside obligations as well. Please be respectful and give us time to review your form (and any others) and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
What happens after that?
We will reach out and talk to you. Once we have identified an animal(s) that you’re interested in we will set up a meet and greet at a time that’s convenient for you and their foster. This can be at an adoption event, community event, or the foster’s home. Whenever possible we prefer you to meet the animals on their own “home turf” where they’re most comfortable to allow for the best match making possible.
I had my meet and greet now I’m totally in love with them. What’s next? Or, it’s not the perfect fit, what now?
We are SO glad it’s a perfect fit! We knew it would be! Let your foster or coordinator know and we will send you the application to adopt. If it wasn’t a great fit let us know that to, lets talk it through and see who may be a better fit. Don’t despair! We got this! Your new best friend is out there!
What happens after I apply?
We will start by contacting your vet reference if you have one, then your personal references. We will discuss any questions with you and conduct a home visit (this can be at drop off in certain cases). Once approved you have a 48 hour cool off period before we will bring your pet to you or meet you with them. Use this time to ask any questions, set up a safe space for your new friend to settle in, and do any last minute supply shopping.
